Conservatory Ouvert
(Open Community Classes)
Holiday Series '22
Ouvert
(French pronunciation: [uvɛʁ(t)]; 'open, opened.') Converse of fermé(e) ('closed').
Ouvert may refer to positions (the second and fourth positions of the feet are positions ouvertes), limbs, directions, or certain exercises or steps. In the French School, this term is used to indicate a position or direction of the body.
Our Conservatory Ouvert plays with the concept of open and refers to our doors instead of our arms, legs, or feet. So throughout the month of December, leading up to Holiday Break, Company 360 is throwing open the doors to our new studio FOR FREE.
Seriously, just show up. Although we certainly welcome an RSVP to sam@companythreesixty.org, we just want you to come join us for festive, inclusive, get to know us classes led by our Artistic Director, Bailey Anne Vincent.
This is our Holiday Gift to you and a great way to make sure you keep things moving through these dark and gloomy days, shake the dance rust off, and get your body into the holiday spirit. For the seasoned pros, be prepared to push your technique and performative chops alongside our incredible performers and community pros alike. For the novices and trainees, come ready to learn, try, make mistakes, and get wrapped up in a dance culture unlike any you're likely to have encountered before.
While each class can be dropped into, please note that each is a mini-series spanning two weeks. If you're interested in the a class the first week then please do consider joining us for the second session the following week. See calendar below for specifics.
Perhaps best of all (especially for this web developer and member of the 360 Community), all Holiday Series evenings will wrap with peppermint hot chocolate and treats.
*Professional dance studio etiquette will be modeled, experienced, and expected.

Conservatory Assemblé
(Weekly All-Ages Classes)
Assemblé
(French pronunciation: [asɑ̃ble]; literally 'assembled') Sometimes also pas assemblé.
A jump that takes off from one foot and lands on two feet. When initiated with two feet on the ground (e.g. from fifth position) the working leg performs a battement glissé/dégagé, brushing out. The dancer launches into a jump, with the second foot then meeting the first foot before landing. A petit assemblé is when a dancer is standing on one foot with the other extended. The dancer then does a small jump to meet the first foot.
We now offer WEEKLY DANCE CLASSES! Starting on *January 9, 2023 we will be opening our doors for extension classes with options for ALL AGES.
But we don’t want to compete with local studios we love because… well, we aren’t one.
We don’t compete. We don’t require a certain amount of hours per week to participate.
But we did have Company dancers risking injury and harm by rehearsing and dancing highly athletic, full-length dance theater shows, without a studio they felt they could train.
So, we are launching classes. For students of all ages. So we can train the next generation of dance theater performers who want to PERFORM… To tell stories on beautiful stages… And that’s the lane where they feel safest.
We need our ballet training studios that train for class. We need our competition studios that train for conventions. And we need our dance theater training spaces that train for what we do: full length dance theater performances. Future tours. Dance films. More.
We need all of us to make an arts community…
And we are proud to offer just a little something more in the one that we call home.

*With minimal exceptions such as our Dance Theatre's stage week, we will follow as closely as possible the school calendar. Please refer to our calendar and take a look at all active Conservatory Coupe weeks to plan out your Spring classes.
Our collaborative classes with Fredericksburg Academy follow their aftercare "Falcon Club" schedule and may be subject to adjustments.
**Save the dates and start to plan as signups open the week of December 12, 2022.
Key To Levels @ 360
Company 360 teaching staff believe strongly in appropriate progression of skills. Age ranges provide the easiest initial format for grouping students but may be adjusted for individual dancers depending on years of experience and abilities. We will not, however, place an older trainee in a much younger group, no matter their level of experience, and instead will work differentially to bring that brave trainee up to speed.
So Let's Get Real
... it's "Course Offering" time
All of our primary
Ballet Theatre - Sugar Plums and Showmanship
It's not enough to be competent at the steps in class if you don't know why we take class to begin with. Ballet Theatre will focus on equal parts barre and etiquette, history and trajectory, expressiveness and performance, and all the many roots of ballet in the theater and catered to the dance and developmental level of each incoming trainee.
Rhythm & Tap - Swagger From Street To Stage
Our brand new Rhythm and Tap classes are equal parts hip-hop and equal parts tap… but 100% the street art forms that influence us today. Understanding the late greats and cultures that these expressive forms were built upon, as well as musicality and showmanship, are integral to respecting the beats that are the backbones of each mastered step.
Contemporary Dance - Building Master Storytellers of Movement
Contemporary at its best is so much more than tricks and turns, shoulder rolls and scorpions. The storytelling, world building, and nuance, as well as modern compositions and lyrical lexicon, that influence what we think of as Contemporary today can elevate us far beyond convention ballrooms and into the unconventional expansion of our artistry and ability.
Broadway Jazz - Dancing Through The Musicals, Then and Now
This course is a measured and exciting composite of classical jazz techniques such as Luigi and Fosse, and the magic of musical theater with its many exquisite steps and narratives. While building a profound respect for the traditional broadway stories, and their movement origins, we will also create a New York jazz technique structure to develop the broadway performers of tomorrow.
